TV's Cruise Ship Queen

Queen of Cruise Ships, Jane McDonald returns to our screens with a new TV series this week, Good Friday (19th April) to be precise!

Channel 5’s BAFTA award-winning “Cruising with Jane McDonald” makes a much-awaited comeback with 3 brand-new episodes in this, their sixth series.

Good Friday’s episode will see Jane experiencing Emerald Waterways’ modestly sized cruise ship, the Emerald Radiance, which explores Portugal’s spectacular Douro region.  Setting sail from Porto to Salamanca in Spain, Jane makes the most of the region by showing viewers all that’s on offer, visiting the famous port cellars, the Casa De Mateus in Vila Real, before tile painting and catching the Lisbon-bound train to check out a factory making traditional Portugese custard tarts.

Emerald Radiance, a purpose-built intimate ship, was specifically designed to navigate the winding waterways, locks and bridges of the Douro but also enable passengers to relax, unwind and enjoy the stunning scenery.  With its collapsible features on board the 4 passenger decks, it comfortably navigates upcoming bridges.  With the river stretching ahead, guests can enjoy all the amenities and features, like the generously proportioned suites and state rooms, no aspect compromised despite its moderate size.  Operated by a crew of 37, there is a generous staff to passenger ratio to ensure Emerald delivers an excellent level of service.

Following episodes will feature another boutique river cruise, Uniworld’s Ganges Voyager II which carries a mere 56 passengers on week long tours of the Ganges River in India.

Don’t miss “Cruising with Jane McDonald” on Channel 5, April 19th@ 9pm (BST)
