This is advanced training for more experienced skippers and builds on the knowledge gained at Day Skipper level, enabling you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows some time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques.

course shaping and plotting
use of almanacs and admiralty publications
electronic position finding equipment
taking and interpreting forecasts
plotting weather systems
weather predictions using a barometer and by observation
customs and excise regulations for cruising abroad
This five day, classroom-based course is taught at the Red Ensign training facility in Cowes.
You should have passed the RYA Day Skipper theory course or equivalent before attending this course and be aged over 18.
This five day course costs £375 inc VAT
